About Anosum Cream

LIDOCAINE+METRONIDAZOLE+SUCRALFATE belongs to a class of medications called 'anorectal preparations' primarily used in the treatment of anal fissure (small tear in the anus lining), fistula (abnormal skin opening near the anus) and piles (inflamed and swollen veins in rectum). Anorectal disorders occur at the junction of the anal canal and the rectum, including haemorrhoids, abscesses, fistula, fissures, anal itching and warts. It is characterized by the accumulation of veins at the anus with frequent mucus and bleeding while straining for stool passage.

Medicinal Benefits of Anosum Cream

LIDOCAINE+METRONIDAZOLE+SUCRALFATE is a combination of three drugs, namely: Lidocaine, Metronidazole and Sucralfate. Lidocaine belongs to the class of local anaesthetics that decreases pain sensation by preventing the transmission of pain signals from nerves to the brain. Metronidazole belongs to the class of antibiotics that works by damaging the DNA (genetic material) of bacteria and protozoa and kills them. Thereby prevents infection in the anal region. Sucralfate belongs to the class of protectants that works by forming a protective layer over the affected area of skin and prevents pain, irritation or burning sensation in the anus. Thereby, promotes healing of fissures and formation of new healthy skin.

Directions for Use

Use LIDOCAINE+METRONIDAZOLE+SUCRALFATE as prescribed by your doctor. Apply a small amount of LIDOCAINE+METRONIDAZOLE+SUCRALFATE on the clean and dry affected area of the skin of the anus. LIDOCAINE+METRONIDAZOLE+SUCRALFATE is only for external use. Avoid contact of LIDOCAINE+METRONIDAZOLE+SUCRALFATE with nose, mouth or eyes. In case LIDOCAINE+METRONIDAZOLE+SUCRALFATE comes in contact with these areas accidentally, rinse with water thoroughly. Wash your hands before and after using LIDOCAINE+METRONIDAZOLE+SUCRALFATE.

Drug Warnings

If you are allergic to LIDOCAINE+METRONIDAZOLE+SUCRALFATE or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. LIDOCAINE+METRONIDAZOLE+SUCRALFATE is for external use only. Avoid contact of LIDOCAINE+METRONIDAZOLE+SUCRALFATE with nose, ears, mouth or eyes. In case LIDOCAINE+METRONIDAZOLE+SUCRALFATE comes in contact with these areas accidentally, rinse with water thoroughly. If you are pregnant or a nursing mother, please inform your doctor before taking LIDOCAINE+METRONIDAZOLE+SUCRALFATE. Do not apply LIDOCAINE+METRONIDAZOLE+SUCRALFATE on cuts, wounds, grazes, raw or blistered skin. You are recommended to avoid rubbing, scratching, or exposure to extreme cold and hot until the anaesthetic effect has worn off. Avoid using LIDOCAINE+METRONIDAZOLE+SUCRALFATE in large amounts or use for a long time than prescribed as it does not give quick or better results but increase the risk of side effects. Do not swallow LIDOCAINE+METRONIDAZOLE+SUCRALFATE. In case of accidental swallowing, please consult a doctor immediately. If you have kidney or liver disease, diabetes or blood disorders, inform your doctor before taking LIDOCAINE+METRONIDAZOLE+SUCRALFATE.

Drug Interactions

Drug-Drug Interaction:

LIDOCAINE+METRONIDAZOLE+SUCRALFATE may have interaction with medicines to treat irregular heartbeat (amiodarone, tocainide, mexiletine), high blood pressure-lowering medicines (propranolol, metoprolol), medicines to treat stomach ulcers or heartburn (cimetidine), tuberculosis vaccine, vitamin (ascorbic acid), blood thinners (warfarin, dicoumarin).

Drug-Disease Interaction:

If you have kidney or liver disease, diabetes or blood disorders, inform your doctor before taking LIDOCAINE+METRONIDAZOLE+SUCRALFATE.

Safety Advice

ALCOHOL

• Interaction of LIDOCAINE+METRONIDAZOLE+SUCRALFATE with alcohol is unknown. Please consult a doctor before consuming alcohol while using LIDOCAINE+METRONIDAZOLE+SUCRALFATE.

PREGNANCY

• Please consult a doctor if you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy. LIDOCAINE+METRONIDAZOLE+SUCRALFATE is given to pregnant women only if the doctor thinks benefits outweigh risks.

BREAST FEEDING

• It is unknown whether LIDOCAINE+METRONIDAZOLE+SUCRALFATE is excreted in human milk. Therefore, it is given to breastfeeding mothers only if the doctor thinks benefits are greater than risks.

DRIVING

• LIDOCAINE+METRONIDAZOLE+SUCRALFATE usually does not affect your ability to drive or operate machinery.

LIVER

• If you have any concerns regarding the use of LIDOCAINE+METRONIDAZOLE+SUCRALFATE in patients with liver problems, please consult a doctor.

KIDNEY

• If you have any concerns regarding the use of LIDOCAINE+METRONIDAZOLE+SUCRALFATE in patients with kidney problems, please consult a doctor.
